Introducing Mimi and Marley

I have not one but three Christmassy cards to share with you today which I made using Mimi and Marley, these little mice are part of the latest release of Christmas images at Pollycraft.
The first card was made with Marley and scraps of Bobuny paper along with a Paper Makeup sentiment stamp.

The second was made with the cute little Mimi. I love her little hat! The papers I used are by Basic Grey.

The third was made with the image of Mimi and Marley together singing in front of the tree. I also used Basic Grey papers, an Elzybells sentiment and added a touch of glitter to the tree.

Make sure you take a look at Paula's latest releases for more great images!
Have a great Tuesday.

My DT card for Squigglefly Challenge #64 Manly-Man Birthdays

Happy Bank Holiday Monday! We have a new Squigglefly challenge for you today! This week's challenge is to make a MANLY-MAN birthday card.
I chose to use the fabulous 'You rock' digi set by Michelle Bertuzzi which is available here from Squigglefly.

I used papers from the DCWV Rock Star stack and heat embossed the guitar with glittery embossing powder. I used a Quickie Glue pen to add the embossing powder to the parts of the image I wanted to add the embossing powder to and then heat set it to get a fab metal effect. I added glitter to the stars on the sentiment which is also part of the set and then added glossy accents over the top.
The ribbon and charm are from my stash.
I hope you will be able to join us for this Challenge. Make sure you take a look at the Challenge blog for loads of wonderful inspiration from the DT.
Have a lovely Bank Holiday Monday!

A 'charming' card for the I love Promarkers Challenge

I have a quick share for you today. This image from Pollycraft was release a little while ago and I coloured it in when it was released but only made it into a card recently. I have been making lots of Christmassy cards lately so I thought I would have a bit of a change and enter the challenge at 'I love Promarkers'.

To make the card, I used a black patterned paper I bought in a job lot at the Farnborough Make it show, layered it on to some turquoise card and sewed around the edges with pink thread. I wrapped some pink gingham ribbon around the layered card and then added it to the card front. I cut a small label shape, stamped my sentiment, set it with an eyelet then pierced a hole with my pokey tool to hang my star charm from. I tied my ribbon into the eyelet, distressed the edges of the tag and added it to the card with a foam pad. As a finishing touch, I added a button tied with black string.
Have a great Sunday!

Thanks for Owl-ways being there.

I have a cute little card to share with you today made using the sentiment and little Owl image from the Woodland Friends My Cute Stamps set from Make the day special.

To make the card, I matted spotty paper onto brown card and sewed around the edges before sticking it to the card base. I stamped the owl onto textured card and coloured him to match the paper combo. I cut around the image leaving a border and added it to the card with foam pads. I then stamped the sentiment and cut it into a strip adding a notch to the end before mounting it to the card with foam pads.
As a finishing touch, I added a button, an owl charm and a gem.

I don't have card to share with you today. I must apologise for my absence for the past few days, I am still feeling rather ill with Bronchitis and am in bed feeling very sorry for myself with my netbook. I have been feeling ill for over a week now and was hoping to be feeling a lot better by now.
I received a lovely Award from the very talented SallyB a few days ago which I need to pass on. Sally and I used to be DT teamies and I love reading her blog and admire her work so it is nice to know she likes to read mine too :-) I have not received a blog award for ages so it was a lovely surprise! Thanks so much for thinking of me Sally.

I have to pass this award on to 7 others with lovely blogs. I read so many blogs and am inspired by so many clever crafters so it was hard to choose just 7 but here goes:

5. Keryn
6. Julia
7. Deirdre
You are all an inspiration to me in different ways and reading your blogs always makes me smile so Thank You to you all!
Make sure you check out these talented crafter's blogs but grab a cuppa first as once you start reading and browsing you won't want to stop!

Back with some exciting news!

I have no cards to show you today. I have been on holiday in Dorset for the past two weeks staying in a lovely Caravan with superb views of the Dorset countryside and the Jurassic coast.
I had scheduled lots of posts to appear when I was away, thank you to all of you who left comments over the past two weeks, it has been lovely reading them all.
The kids, my Hubby and I had a wonderful two weeks and did lots of fun things, we went to Monkey World, Jersey, Crealy where I made friends with lots of lovely goats. I only wish I had taken a larger bag with me to smuggle one out!
I haven't got many photos as I took the wrong lead to charge up my camera and the battery ran out.

We spent time by the sea looking at the waves and gorgeous scenery while the kids made sandcastles and we took a pedalo out for a sail along the coastline. It was the perfect break. We came back a day early as Jack and I came down with a nasty cold on Wednesday and the weather was not very promising on Friday. My cold has got worse and has gone down on to my chest since I got back and I am laid up in bed today so I will have to wait a bit longer to play with the new stash I bought when I was away.

This is a piccie of the boys on our first trip to the beach in Weymouth. It is our dream to move down to Dorset one day and be close to all the places we love. You can't fail to be inspired by all the lovely villages and coastline and we have come back even more determined than ever to make our dream a reality.

When I was away, whilst checking my emails on my Hubby's Iphone, I found out I had been picked to be part of the DT of a brand new Challenge blog. I am so happy to have been chosen, the other DT girls are such amazingly talented crafters!

Emma has recently opened the most magnificent Craft Store which is an Aladdin's cave of beautiful crafty stash and she is starting weekly Challenges. The first Challenge starts next Saturday and Emma has some lovely Candy on the blog that you all have a chance to win. Make sure you go over and take a look now and also check out Emma's fabulous store, she has lots of lovely new Prima papers just in! I am off to place another order now before I go back to sleep :-)
Have a great Saturday!

Mini Pamper box

I have a something 'other than a card' to share with you today using a Mini Bathtime Fhiona stamp which is available from Make the Day Special.

I made a little Shaker box using a Sizzix die, I used double sided paper from my stash as I wanted the inside to be pretty too! I stamped the image and coloured it with Promarkers. I cut it out with my Nestabilities and layered it on to a scalloped circle. I wrapped ribbon around the box and added the image to fix the ribbon to the box. I added a flower to the top left hand corner of the box top.

I stamped the sentiment and created a little panel which I used to fix the ribbon to the back of the box.

Perfect to hold two small handmade heart soaps!
Have a great Friday!

A bright and sassy Anniversary card!

I recently treated myself to lots of gorgeous goodies from Crafy Emma's fab store. This paper is so much fun and is from the Sassafras Sweet Marmelade stack. Emma has some fabulous stash in her shop!

I decided to make a bright anniversary card using a really sweet Elzybells stamp which I coloured with my Promarkers to match the papers. I added a sentiment tag tied on with lovely red dotty ribbon and a little heart button in the top right hand corner.
Have a great Wednesday!

One stamp, one layout, two different cards...

I have two cards to share with you today!! Two more wedding cards made with the same Whiff of Joy stamp and using the same layout but with two very different looks just by changing the colour scheme. All papers I used are from K+Co and I followed a very simple layout for both cards.

The first has a very traditional romantic feel using pastel shades and lots of pearls. I added stiching and some cream lace and lots of pearls and delicate cream flowers.

The next card has a more vintage feel and I used a layered Prima flower, some gorgeous grosgrain ribbon and papers in stronger colours.
I am not sure which one is my favourite....I do love the way my colouring turned out on the second one!
Have a great Tuesday!

Pollycraft Monday Challenge - In Stitches

I'm back with another DT card for a Challenge! The Pollycraft Challenge theme this week is: In stitches.
We want to see stitching on your cards. Fake or real, it's up to you. I chose to use my machine to make a patchwork using leftover scraps of patterned papers.

To make the card, I cut all the squares out with my Nesties and stuck them to bright blue card. I then sewed over all the joins and around the edges. I covered a card blank with corrugated card and then stuck the sewed panel to this. I printed and coloured the Pollycraft Beer Monster and cut him out leaving a small border around the image. This was then added to the card with foam pads.
I added a greeting on a tag threaded with ribbon and a cute little checked button as a finishing touch.
I really LOVE the Beer Monster!!!
I hope you will be able to join us for this Challenge for the chance to win a fabulous prize. Please check out the Challenge blog for more details and the rest of the DT's projects.

Squigglefly Challenge DT card! Use Hot colours

It's time for a new Squigglefly Challenge. For my DT card this week I have used a cupcake image by the very talented Jane Beljo which is available here from Squigglefly.
For this week's theme we want to see Hot colours! Think reds, oranges, yellows...use one or all of them!

I went for it with my card and used all 3! The papers are all leftovers from other projects and were in my scraps box. To tie them in together I added some red stitiching through the layers.
I added a button as a cherry and tucked a little Hero Arts sentiment behind. The stripy ribbon is from my stash.
I hope you will be able to join us for this Challenge, make sure you check out the Challenge blog for some fabulous 'Hot' creations from the DT!
Have a great Monday!

A Christmas card for Mum and Dad

It may seem a bit early to be thinking about Christmas but if you want to get organised Di has some lovely Christmas Digi stamps for you to play with!
I couldn't resist making a card with this cute couple of little bunnies!
They are available here from Di's Website. The papers are all last year's Papermania Christmas collection.

I love the shades of green in these papers, they are a bit different to the usual Christmas greens.
To make the card, I coloured the image and cut it out using my Nesties and layered it on to a scalloped circle.
I used 2 backing papers matted and layered on the card base and tucked a snowflake die cut behind the image before sticking it to the card with foam pads overlapping the top edge of the card.
I added some stickers to the bottom edge for the sentiment and a lovely gingham bow to finish the card off.
Have a lovely Sunday!

A vintage wedding card

I have a vintagey wedding card to share with you today. This was a another card I made for the gift shop order. I used K+Co papers and my favourite Elzybells Wedding stamp.

The lace was a find from a Charity shop and has a lovely vintage feel to it. I kept the layout quite simple, adding a couple of Prima flowers and a Tim Holtz adage ticket to complete the card.
Have a lovely Saturday!

A cute mini wedding card

I have another mini card to share with this Friday. I used the cake and sentiment from the Be my Bridesmaid set which is available from Make the day Special.
The finished card measures 10cmx10cm.

To make the card, I cut a square of cream card to measure 10cmx10cm and layered a piece of patterned card over this. I wrapped organza ribbon around both layers and stuck them to the card front.
I stamped the image and sentiment on to white card, coloured the image in and then die cut using a Nesties shape which I layered with foam pads on to another Nesties label cut from cream card.
I added a bow to the right of the image and accented with pearls and gems.
Have a lovely Friday!

Happy Anniversary!

I love making shaped cards and the Sizzix scalloped card die I bought after Christmas has been one of my most valued tools for doing this. It is so quick to use and makes really cute little card blanks.

To make this little card, I cut a card blank with the die and then cut another shape from green card to cover the card front. I cut a label shape with a Nesties shape, wrapped it with green ribbon and layered this with my stamped and coloured image panel. The stamp is from Lili of the Valley and I bought it quite a while ago but I inked it up for the first time when I made this card. The image was coloured with Promarkers and I added glitter accents to the centre of the flower and a couple of little punched Martha Stewart butterflies.
The sentiment is from Elzybells and was cut out with a Spellbinders label.
As a finishing touch, I added a green bow topped with a matching button.
Have a great Wednesday!

Elzybells Wedding card

I had a bumper order for some Wedding cards from my local Gift shop recently and this is one of the cards I made.

The image is from the soon to be 'closed' Elzybells. If you are a fan of Elzybells, make sure you treat yourself to some bargains before the shop closes, I certainly did! I started stamping with Elzybells stamps and they will always have a special place in my stash and heart! The papers are various leftovers which sort of fell in together... The sentiment stamp is by Hero Arts.

Something a little bit different...

This card is a little different to my usual style. It is not as bright and this paper is not something I would usually choose but I thought I would try something a little different for my recent order of Anniversary cards.

I am not sure who the paper is by as it was bought in a job lot from the Make it show in Farnborough and the stamp was bought last year from Ally Pally but I inked it up for the 1st time when I made this card. I will be using it a lot more from now on though as I love it!
The card was very simple and quick to put together. I first cut a piece of card to fit the card base and layered it with the patterned paper. I sewed around all the edges and wrapped around two layers of ribbon before sticking it to the card blank.
I stamped and coloured the Butterfly with my Promarkers. I coloured some white stamens with my black Promarkers and stuck it behind the Butterfly with my glue gun. I then added black gems to the Butterfly's body before sticking it to the top of the card.
I stamped the Elzybells sentiment to the bottom of the card and added gems to highlight it. As a finishing touch, I added a bow and a little heart pearl.
Have a lovely Monday!

Here's another bright and cheerful card made using one of Di's adorable animals. This bunny is so cute and is carrying a lovely big bouquet of roses and flowers.

I'm not sure where this backing paper came from, I think it was in a job lot I got at a Craft show. The little sentiment is Hero Arts and the ribbon was from my stash.

You're sweet!

I have a mini card to share with you today which I made with no Patterned paper! I used the cherry and sentiment from the Sweet Kawai set which is available from Make the day Special.
The finished card measures 10cmx10cm. I stamped the cherry and sentiment repeatedly on to white card and coloured the cherries in with my Promarkers.

I cut a panel from the stamped paper with my Nestabilities and layered it on to black card before sticking to the card base.
To finish the card off, I added glossy accents to the cherries, a little gingham bow and a green pearl to highlight one of the greetings.
Have a lovely Friday!

WOYWW and some Funky News!!

It's Wednesday already! I have been so busy for the past few days I actually had to tidy my desk before I could finish off and pack up what I was working on.
My desk looks relatively tidy now although my scraps are a complete mess and I think I need to sort through them! I bought some Marianne design Flower dies yesterday and I want to cut a few to try them out so that should make a small dent in the pile.
There is another magazine comission packed up ready to send in the box. It was something a bit different for me and I really enjoyed the Challenge. The past few days I have been playing with my Nesties a lot. A various points they have been spread over my floor, bed etc...I borrowed the idea of storing them in this CD box from Clare Curd but it is not really working for me. I guess if I was a crafter who put the last thing they used away before I took the next thing it would....those of who who have seen my desk at it's worst know that I am not that organised. I am more of a tip it all out, have a rummage, stuff it all back in a hurry 4 hours later because there is no room left on the floor to be able to leave the room to go to the loo without breaking anything!
Anyway....I mentioned in my post header that I had some Funky News to share. I found out at the weekend that I have made it on to the Funky Hand Design Team! Amazingly exciting news! I can't wait to get started and am so honoured to have been chosen to work with such talented ladies who I have admired since I started crafting!

I will be having a little break from crafting for the next couple of weeks but will still be around to share my DT projects and some bits and pieces I have made recently but not yet shown. It is time to have a bit of a rest and recharge my mojo to be fresh and ready for lots more!
I hope you have enhoyed looking at my desk and apologies for the long post! If you want to see more desks, please pop over to Julia's for more WOYWW fun!

Hero Arts wedding card

I have a quick share for you today! This is a Wedding card I made using the Hero Arts Wedding set. I tried something a bit different for me. Black and white with a touch of pink...not sure if it works...

The papers are from the Making Memories wedding pad and the flowers are from various places, I think mostly Papermania.
Have a great Tuesday! I have the afternoon off and am going to Windsor with my Hubby to have a wander and Dinner at Wagamamas :-)

Pollycraft Monday Challenge - Fit for a Princess

It's time for a new Pollycraft Challenge and I think you are going to love this one! The Challenge theme has been set by Ria and she would like to see something that is....FIT FOR A PRINCESS!

I decided to make something a bit different for this Challenge and made a wall hanging in a crown shape inspired by an image I found on the web. I enlarged the image and used it as a template to cut a shape from chipboard. I ran a Promarker around the edges of the chipboard shape and then cut 2 more crowns in patterned paper. I stuck the crowns to both sides of the crown shape and added glitter glue around the edge of the shape.

When the glue was dry, I punched two holes with my Crop-o-dile and set them with eyelets which I threaded with lovely pink organza ribbon. I added a pink heart charm which I saved from some kiddies jewellery and some pink gems. For the greeting panel, I cut 2 Nesties circles, added more glitter and a Sizzix Princess die cut.

I used the beautiful Cherry Kisses Princess image from Pollycraft which is available to buy here and coloured her in with Promarkers and added a few gems to make her sparkle. As a finishing touch, I added a couple of flowers, a butterfly and some more gems. I really enjoyed making this, it was a nice change for me to do something Pink and Girly!

I hope you will be able to join us for this Challenge, the Prize this week is 2 Digi Kits of your own choice from our sponsor

Make sure you check out the Blog for the rest of the DT's fabulous creations, we are so excited to be joined by Sandra as our Guest DT this month so make sure you give her a warm welcome!

A new Squigglefly Challenge - use Ribbon

The theme for this week's Squigglefly Challenge is 'Ribbon', we want to see ribbon on your creations. My DT card is the Anniversary card I made for my Husband at the end of July. I used one of Jane Beljo's cute little monsters which you can get here from Squigglefly.

I wanted to try and add ribbon in a different way so I created a rosette to place the little monster on. To do this, I cut a pinking edge circle with my Nesties and cut short lengths or ribbon which I attached behind the circle.
I then stuck this on to my backing paper with foam pads. I added another length of ribbon and placed the sentiment circle over the top finishing it off with some letter stickers.
I hope you will be able to join us for this Challenge and make sure you check out the Challenge blog for more ribbony goodness from the DT!

Mini Doodle Wedding cake card

Mmmm! How yummy does this cake look??!??? I made this cute little card using the fab Mr and Mrs set from Pollycraft. I used K+CO papers for this one with lots of Organza ribbon and pearls.

The sentiment is part of the set. I added glossy accents to the little hearts on the image to make them stand out but I don't think it shows in the photo...
Have a lovely Sunday! I am off to Kingston today for a bit of retail therapy and a lovely lunch with my lovely Hubby :-)
