My Guest DT Project for the RIbbon Girl Colour Challenge.

I was delighted and very honoured a few weeks ago to be asked to be a Guest Designer for The Ribbon Girl, my favourite shop for gorgeous ribbons, buttons and lots of other beautiful goodies for my cards. Today, the new Colour Challenge was launched and the colour theme is lilac, pink and white.
I made a gift card holder using a Sizzix die from lilac card and really went to town decorating it with scrummy goodies from The Ribbon Girl.

To decorate the gift card holder, I matted some Cosmo Cricket card onto kraft card and sewed around the edges.I used the super cute Winter Dana and Penny digi stamp by Lori Boyd and coloured them in pinks and lilacs to suit the them.
I made an embellishment by cutting a snowflake from acetate and covering in two coats of stickles. When it was dry, I layered it up with another snowflake cut from Kraft, a lace snowflake made from the 15mm wide Guipure Lace Diamond Pattern. This was then topped with a lovely lavender button.

I punched through the closing flap and set it with eyelets so I could tie it with organza spot ribbon to attach a tag and added a punched snowflake with a gem in the centre.
I printed a label for the inside of the pocket on my PC and cut it out with a Nesties label shape before adding a couple more snowflakes to the inside.

Click on the logo below to take you to the Challenge blog for some inspiration from the DT.

The Challenge will close on Sunday December 12th (Midnight UK time), and Mary and Andrea will randomly select one project to win this gorgeous prize from the Ribbon Girl

I would like to Thank Mary and Andrea for allowing me to join them for this Challenge, it was loads of fun creating this gift card holder and using all the lovely Ribbon girl goodies to embellish it. I am in a bad way again with my back today so it will be a very quiet day for me today with no crafting and just trying to keep warm.
Enjoy your Sunday!

CES Challenge #14 - Vintage Christmas

It's time for another CES Challenge and this time we have a theme of Vintage Christmas.
I don't do much 'vintage' so this was a bit of a Challenge for me but I am delighted with my finished card.

I used Pink Paislee 'Father Christmas' papers to decorate the base card which was made using a scalloped circle Nestie. The ribbon and trim are Websters and they are delicious. I triple embossed a small Santa image from the paper pack to make a mini enamelled picture to add to the card and finished with a pin, snowflake and button and lots of pearls.
Make sure you check out the Challenge blog for lots of Vintage inspiration and take part in the Challenge for the chance to win the Pink Paislee papers I used for my card.
Have a great Saturday!

A matching set for Dad

It was my Hubby's Birthday yesterday and this is the card I made for the boys to give him. I made a wordbook from the Funky Hand Colour me Happy CD and a matching box for the CD they bought him.

I love the Wordbooks on the Papercraft Factory CDs as you can have the letters and papers in any combination/colour, it's great to have so much choice.
I added a little tag made up with an SRM sticker and tied it with some Bobunny ribbon. The little ball embellishments were an RAK gift from a blogging friend.
I made a matching box using my scoring board and some more papers from the CD. I printed out some letters from the extras section on the CD and cut them into a tag shape which I backed with the leftovers from the Wordbook.
I added another SRM sticker along the bottom of the box.
My Hubby has taken the day off today and we are going out for a couple of hours to do some Christmas shopping in Camberley as part of my 'reintroduction to society' in preparation for my return to work Monday :-)
Have a great Friday and a good weekend.

Squiggles and Sparkles

I have made another card for another challenge! I seem to be on a bit of a roll!
I am entering this very sparkly card into this month's Squiggle Stamps Challenge. I used some very old sparkly card I have had for about two years and sewed an embossed piece of white card on to it. I them printed and coloured the gorgeous angel image and glittered it and added it to a scalloped square cut from glittery card.
You can see the way I glittered the image from the close up, I used Diamond Sparkles, it is so glittery, I love it!
I added a sentiment stamped onto a Stampin Up tab punched shape and some gems to the centres of some of the snowflakes for an extra bit of sparkle!

A Birthday card for my lovely Hubby

It's my lovely Hubby's birthday tomorrow and I left it a bit late to make him a card and was stuck for inspiration so I decided to follow the Wild Rose Studio sketch and then part in their blog hop. I've never taken part in a blog hop before and it was lovely seeing all the new stamps in the fabulous samples made by the DT.

I used a Wild Rose studio stamp I bought at a show but have never used for my card and some of my lovely new My Mind's Eye papers.
I followed this lovely sketch by Dawny P which was used by all the members of the DT.

I really enjoyed using the bright summery colours after all the Christmassy colours I have been using on my cards. The spotty ribbon and epoxy star were from my stash and I have had them a long time.
I am also entering this card in to this week's Passion for Promarkers challenge.
The theme is old/new and the papers and stamps I have used are my brand new items, the epoxy button and ribbon are my old items.
I am slowly getting back to some sense of normality now after being out of action due to my back, I don't normally have time to take part in many Challenges so this has been a nice change for me! I am now off to link up my card
I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.

Mini bauble cards and a fabulous freebie!

I have a couple of mini cards to share with you today which I made with the fabulous freebie which is available on the very talented Wendy Colledge's blog.

For the first card, I cut a scalloped circle card and used a red spotty backing paper from the Cosmo Cricket Mitten Weather stack and first printed the bauble on to a piece of printer paper. I then held the paper up to the light with a piece of patterned paper over it so I could see the outlines and make sure the pattern was centered on the bauble. I then stuck this in place and ran it back through the printer. I printed the bauble on card and then paper pieced the bauble on to the image. I finished with a mini stamped tag tied with twine and added a button, both from the Ribbon Girl.
For the second card, I used table scatter I bought from Tesco's to make a flocked pattern on the image of the bauble. I ran them through my Xyron sticker maker to make them sticky and then added them to a bauble which I had coloured with Promarkers. I finished with gems and another mini tag tied with twine.
I hope you have a great Sunday, ours is a quiet one catching up on some chores and watching a bit of TV and reading the papers :-)

All zipped up for the Moxie Fab World Challenge

I couldn't resist playing along with the latest Moxie Fab World Challenge which is to incorporate zips in your project.

I made a rose from a zip I recycled from a cushion cover which had been chewed by the dog and was going to be thrown away. I added a couple of little felt leaves which I hand stitched. I made a simple card using American Crafts papers and ribbon and a little sentiment by Paper Makeup. The finishing touch was a little gem. I am on the lookout for more zips to recycle now as this was so much fun. Thanks for the inspiration Moxie Fab World!

Shopping Spree for Sketch Saturday

I have been trying to be a bit more active the past couple of days and have made a gentle and gradual return to a bit of cardmaking in between rests. I had my physio appointment Friday and am all strapped up with tape. I promised myself I would make some card with some of Di's lovely images as soon as I could. I have been watching them all being added to her site over the past couple of weeks making a note of my favourites.

This 'Shopping Spree' image is so cute, I couldn't resist using her to make a card using the sketch from Sketch Saturday, I used Kraft paper recycled from a hanging file. I bought a big pile of them in a charity shop ages ago and they are a great colour and were a great find.

I cut strips from the Kraft card to follow the strips on the design. I embossed them with a Cuttlebug folder so they stood out bit more. The paper I used is from a beautiful Pink Paislee Father Christmas Stack I bought from Crafty Emma's Store. The papers in this stack have a lovely beautiful feel to them. They are all stunning colours too.

Here is a little close up of the image coloured with Promarkers. I had to cut the image out to stick over the oval shape as I didn't leave enough room around it when I was printing to cut it out...
I hope you have a great Sunday.

Merry& Bright

I had a huge flash of crafty inspiration last night when I was blog hopping and just had to make a card as soon as I saw this wonderful Freebie digi stamp on the very talented Wendy Colledge's blog.

I made this card 1st. All cards were made using a Sizzix card die. I printed one of the images with the text and one without in the same size and cut out the image with the text using a Nestabilities die.

I printed the bulbs separately and coloured them in using some of my favourite colours then mounted them on to the background with foam pads and added glossy accents to each one and a gem to dot the 'i'.

Then, this morning I tried a pink variation. Not sure about this one. I used twine from The Ribbon Girl on all the cards.

I think this one might be my favourite. I used red card for the base card and greens and reds for the bulbs. When I visualised the cards, I had Kraft in mind as I thought it would work well against the bright white textured card but I do like the red.
Enjoy the rest of your Saturday!

Crafty Emma's store Challenge -Think Pink

It's Saturday and time for another Challenge on the CES Challenge blog. This week we want you to Think Pink for our Challenge.
For my card this week, I used some gorgeous card Craftwork Cards shaped card blanks and a charm which are available in Emma's shop along with an image from our sponsor.

The gingham paper is a Funky Hand paper from the Colour me Happy CD. I love gingham and it is available in so many lovely colours on this CD! The sentiment I used is from Elzybells and the twine and button are from one of my favourite shops ...apart from Crafty Emma's store of course...The Ribbon Girl. The bow was in my stash and I think it might be from Papermania.

We have a BRAND NEW & totally fabulous sponsor this week....Stamp Fairy

There are some adorable images to choose from in this new shop, I love the Gingerbread man I used and he matches the sentiment so well.
I hope you will be able to join us this week. Make sure you check out the CES blog for more cards from the DT and all the details you need to take part.
Have a great Saturday!

A mini Christmas card

Here is another little card I have not shared with you yet. The image on this card is a stamp from a Christmas label set by Elzybells.

It's a really simple little card and I think it works really well. I love the embossing on Kraft card with the red and green. I did another one of those jobs you never have time to do yesterday, I cleaned my scissors and removed all the sticky stuff from them so they will be lovely to use now.
I have another Physio appointment today. Wish me luck!
Have a good Friday.

Telly addict

One of the advantages of not being able to be very active is that I have more time to do the things that have been on my to do list for ever.
I have updated my netbook browser to the latest version of Firefox successfully. I had convinced myself that this was impossible after a number of rushed failed atttempts but after a good few hours browsing for solutions (Google Is My Friend!) I managed it.

I have also installed GIMP and had a good tidy of my files. When I was tidying I found a couple of cards I hadn't shared with you yet. The card above is quite fitting for my current situation as I have watched hours of telly the past two weeks. I have watched hours of Create and Craft, QVC craft day and lots of other rubbish my Hubby watches but I don't usually have to suffer.
The card was made with a Tiffany Doodles freebie image, which is available here. I coloured it with Promarkers, I love the way the screen turned out kind of ghostly after I added glossy accents. The sentiment was computer printed, the Kraft paper is from Paperchase and the dots are American Crafts.
I hope you have a great Thursday.

A Pollycraft Neverending card

Sorry about the long post and all the photos but I wanted to show you this 'never ending' card I made yesterday as my boys need a birthday card for a party they are going to and I just couldn't let them give a yukky shop bought one so I got up and made them one!

I was really inspired to try the never ending card tutorial in the latest issue of Quick cards. I used one of my favourite Pollycraft images Jack - In the Game, which is available here. I printed him quite large and then used my Nesties to cut out part of the image. This is a great way to use images to make them look a bit different, it was really quick and easy to colour this way too so I wasn't leaning over the desk too long which helped my back.

I always thought these would be really hard but they are so easy and the boys were really impressed with it. It's quite hard to impress my 13 year old these days so it must be good! The stamp I used inside is one of my favourites at the moment and it is available here from Crafty Emma's Store. The felt star was bought last year from Paperchase.

I used papers I downloaded a while ago, not sure from where and plain silver black and royal blue card.

The letters are old Papermania ones from my stash, the ribbon is from Hobbycraft, the button was from a wool shop in Swindon and the QPR badge was cut from the envelope the invitation was in. I used a Cuttlebug folder on the plain card and a couple of stick on pearls.
I had so much fun making this card yesterday and it came together in about 30 mins, including the printing!
My back is feeling a bit better today than it did yesterday after my Physio, I have got another session booked Friday...not looking forward to that!
Sorry about the long post and all the photos!
Have a great Wednesday!

Introducing....Sonny Honeycloud!

Paula gave you all some sneak peeks at her new range of Clear stamps yesterday featuring the adorable brand new Sonny Honeycloud. I have a card to share with you today I made quite a few weeks ago when the DT got to play with the stamps. I couldn't wait to get my hands on them after a few teasers from Paula!

Sonny is all dressed up for Christmas and I coloured her in to match these Funky Smirk Christmas papers, added some lovely ribbon a punched scallop strip and a die cut snowflake to make a fun Christmas card.
If you check out the Pollycraft Challenge blog you can see a few more examples of cards made using Sonny. Don't forget to enter Paula's fabulous candy to mark the release of the new stamps.
Click on the image below for all the details.

I had my first appointment with the Physio yesterday so am quite uncomfortable and not moving around as well today after being prodded about but she seems confident she will be able to sort me out. Am on the sofa again today with heat pads on my back and all wrapped up as it is freezing today!
Have a good Tuesday.

My Funky Hand cards in Papercraft Essentials

Sorry I have not been around for a while, I am still suffering with my back so haven't been able to sit at my desk and do any crafting for over a week now, there won't have any DT cards to share with you this week either but as I am improving a little every day, I am hoping I will be back at my sorkdesk soon.

This is just a quick post to let you know that this month's Papercraft Essentials has a fab freebie. There is a lovely collection of Funky Hand Winter Skating Papers. Anice was looking for someone to make cards to show the readers what they could do with the papers so I volunteered and made 5 cards which are published in the Magazine (you can see 2 of them in the top right hand corner of the cover too). It's so exciting to see my work published! Thanks Anice and Papercraft Essentials!
I hope you are having a good weekend.

Get Funky November Challenge- Tag it!

Hi there everyone. I apologise for my absence over the pas t few days. We went to Eurodisney for a few days over half term then developed a bad back the day after we came back. After a long visit to A+E it turns out I have Sacroilitis. I have never know pain like this before! I am gutted as I missed the Christmas Cardmaking Marathon I was supposed to be attending Saturday and cannot sit, lie down or stand without any pain. I am going back to the doctors today and I hope to be referred to a physio.
Luckily, I had made my Project for the Get Funky Challenge a few weeks ago...I used papers from theAll I want for xmas download, and the gorgeous little sentiment digi that is included in the download too!!.

The Challenge theme this month is 'Tag it'. All you need to do is have fun creating a TAG using your favourite funky hand papers. You can create any kind of tag or project including a tag for this challenge!!

The other thing to remember is that your project will only be eligible for the prize if you use at least one Funky Hand product - there are LOADS of papers and extras to choose from so that bit won't be difficult! Click HERE for a quick link to the Funky Hand website ;-).
Here's how to be in with a chance of winning this month's £20.00 voucher to spend in the Funky Hand on-line shop:
1. Add your 'TAG IT' project to your blog,
2. Don't forget to say which Funky Hand product(s) you've used,
3. Go back to the Challenge blog before midnight on Tuesday 30th November (UK time) and add your challenge entry to our little inlinkz gadget at the bottom of the post!!
I hope you will be able to join us. I am not sure when I will be back as I am unable to make anything at the moment.
Take care and have a great Monday.
