My first try at 'vintage' with a special gift.

My Friend PetraB is an expert at all things vintage. I usually do cute and colourful and normally steer away from 'altered' and vintage style cards and Projects as I never usually know where to start and often do not really feel inspired by vintage images. Petra came into work today with some gorgeous buttons she had covered with vintage images which she had cleverly transferred onto fabric and I fell in love with this one.
Petra very kindly gave it to me and I was itching to get home to make something with it!
While the snow fell outside and still keeps falling, I started work. It took me a long time to get a card I was happy with. About 3 hours altogether! I started by surrounding the button with a rosette made from ribbons from Crafty ribbons. I matted and layered Making memories and a Nesties label shape cut from Papercellar paper and sewed around the edges. I added a strip of vintage lace from my stash and then stuck on my button embellishment.
I added some Cuttlebug swirly rose vines, some letter stickers from Making memories and some tiny gold gems which I bought in Claire's.
Here is a close up of the button. Isn't it just amazing! I hope you like my attempt at 'vintage'. I am not quite hooked yet but I may give it another try one day when I have a spare 3 hours!
I hope you are staying safe in all this snow and ice.
