A special card for Lisa's Sister.

Lisa, my very talented Pollycraft DT team friend is running a very special card event for her Sister. Lisa's sister Jayme has been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer and Lisa is asking for her stamping friends to make card for her using an image of a Frog as they are Jayme's favourite. I sent the card to Jayme yesterday so I hope she receives it soon. If you are able to take part and make a card, you will find all the details on Lisa's blog.
To make my card, I used a special image Paula designed for this occasion and it is available on the Pollycraft blog if you would like to use him. I used K+Co papers and ribbon from my stash. The flower is Prima and the sentiment is Hero Arts.
I hope you had a lovely Sunday, we went to Whitstable today with Charlie our Puppy. It was a bit windy but we had a lovely day, Charlie is exhausted this evening! I treated myself to some lovely bright summery coloured ribbons from the Fabric shop there. There is a craft shop there which looks to have lots of lovely goodies but I always miss out visiting it as it is closed on Sundays!
Have a lovely evening!

Sketch and Stash Challenge with Di's Digis

I have a card to share with you today made with 'Beer Bear' from Di's Digi Downloads. I adore this cute little snoozing bear and he is perfect for those hard to make Men's cards.
I coloured him using Promarkers to match these lovely Making Memories papers which I bought a while ago in the Range and have only used one sheet of. They are great for Men's cards and I love the soft muted tones.
I decided I would follow the Sketch and Stash Challenge sketch to make my card as it is a lovely clean and simple design. I cut all the paper pieces and inked the edges before layering them on to the card. The sentiment was printed using a font I downloaded from the Web and cut it out using a Nesties label die.
Here is the lovely sketch to follow this fortnight. I replaced the flowers with American Crafts buttons tied with string.
I had a lovely day off work yesterday and went down to Swindon to see my Parents and my Nan who will be celebrating her birthday on Monday, we popped to the Outlet Centre so I nipped in to the Papermillshop to stock up on plain cardstock. I am hoping to have another go at organising my stash this long weekend, whenever I start I always end up abandoning my efforts as I find some forgotten stash I just HAVE to use!
Have a lovely Saturday!

Little Forest Friends

I was inspired by this post by my very talented Blog buddy Jane to make a card with my new Forest Friends 'My cute stamps' set which is available now from Make the Day Special. I love the little characters that are in this set and there are so many little extras like flowers, branches and leaves, you can create some lovely little scenes.

I chose to use the little snail and to make a mini card. I cut a scalloped base using my Nestabilities and then cut some new Basic Grey Green at heart paper to cover the base. I layered this with some green patterned paper and some pale blue and sewed around the edges using a variety of stitches.

I stamped the snail directly onto the background with the greeting. I then stamped the snail on to a piece of white card and coloured him in. I cut him out and stuck him to the card using foam pads and added glossy accents to his shell and eyes. I added a couple of flowers and a gorgeous Fimo button handmade by Jane.
I finished the card off with some bright pink stick on pearls.
Have a lovely Friday!

Pretty in Pink!

I have a very pink card to share with you today which I sent to my talented Blogger friend Becky. I love using lots of texture on my cards and Cuttlebug embossing folders are my favourite. The layout I used for the card is pretty simple. I cut a square piece of pink card to fit my card base and embossed the middle of the panel. I sewed down the edges using a zig zag stitch.

The centre panel is a scrap of Funky Hand card which I mounted on to a felt scalloped edge rectangle. I then sewed through both layers with my machine. I stuck a punched tab behind the panel stamped with a Hero Arts sentiment. I added a The Greeting Farm stamped image and then added a sparkly pink button as a finishing touch. The theme at Quixotic Challenges is embossing so I am entering this card. I love Quixotic Paperie and the Challenges are always great fun, Elaine and her DT make the most amazing cards and Elaine has some fabulous goodies in her shop!
Thanks to all of you who visited my desk yesterday, I ran out of time to get round all the WOYWW desks yesterday but I hope to visit some more before next week!
Have a lovely Thursday.

What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday???

Here is my desk today. It's tidy. I tidied it Monday night when I had some quiet time as my Hubby and the boys were at Wembley. No crafting yesterday, not much at all since last week really as I have been suffering with my eyes. I managed to catch Ryan's eye infection and had been treating it since last week with eyedrops I bought over the counter. It wasn't really getting any better and I tried to book an appointment Monday at the doctor's, no luck there unfortunately. Yesterday, I woke up and my left eye was all swollen and very sore and I couldn't really see properly! I didn't want to risk driving to work and managed to get in to the doctor's and now have some stronger eyedrops with antibiotics and steroids which seem to be slowly working.

I seem to be catching everything that is going around this year, I think I need to shut myself away in my room away from all the germs! There is not much to talk about on the desk this week. I did find my glue pot lid when I was tidying. It was under the desk so there was no way any of you WOYWWers would have been able to see it but thanks to all of you who looked for it.
My box of Nesties is on my desk, it is struggling to hold my growing collection now, I will have to look for an alternative storage solution. I have been looking into different ways of storing my 12x12 papers but have not found an appropriate solution yet due to my lack of space.
There is a magazine on the desk, a letter a sent in is printed in there with a photo of a watering can I made, it is the Star letter so I am looking forward to receiving a bumper pack of goodies!
Anyway, I have rambled on far too long! I hope you enjoy looking around my desk and if you want to see more, please pop over to Julia's, you may even feel like sharing a piccie of your workspace.
Hope to see you there!

A card for the CPS challenge

My Hubby and the boys went off to Wembley this evening to watch England vs Mexico so I had a lot of me time. I spent the evening with the dog and tidied some of my scraps and decided to make a quick card.

I noticed this CPS sketch the other day when I was blog hopping and thought it would work really well with this film strip I cut ages ago with Petra's Tim Holtz die.

I printed some Pollycraft Critters and Cogs images and coloured them in and cut them to fit inside the strip.
I cut some American Crafts paper to fit the card front and wrapped it with red cord. The sentiment if by Hero Arts. I mounted the film strip onto the card with foam pads and added a gorgeously perfect Fimo button made by my very talented blog friend Jane.
I added a small gem as a finishing touch. It was great fun taking part in the Challenge, I never seem to have the time normally...

My card for the Pollycraft Buttons and Butterflies challenge

It's Monday already and this week I got to pick the Challenge theme for the Pollycraft Monday Challenge!
I chose 2 of my favourite things to add to cards as my theme:

Buttons and Butterflies!

I made a card using this gorgeous image of Sydney Flutterby. I wanted to frame the image with Butterflies so I cut a pinking circle with my nesties and stuck a Martha Stewart butterly to every other small triangle of the pinked edge. I then topped the Butterflies with mini buttons.

I coloured the image with Promarkers and layered it on a green circle before adding it to my Butterfly frame.
The papers I used are from a DCWV stack, I think it is Blossoms and Butterflies. The sentiment is b Hero Arts and was cut out with a label die. The ric rac has been in my stash for a long time!
The finished card is a little bright but I guess it is quite suitable for the weather we are having!
Please check out the Challenge blog to see the rest of the DT's cards. I hope you will be able to join us for this Challenge. Paula has a whole set of Cuthbert and Kiki images as a prize for the winner!

I just love those little bears! They are so adorable!
Have a lovely Monday!

I picked you some flowers...

I have a card to share with you today using one of Di's adorable images. This cat is just adorable and is available from Di's Digi Downloads. I experimented by printing him on some different textured card for a change and I quite like the effect.

I used papers I bought at my local Craft shop but cannot remember who they are from. I added a bit of stitching and some ribbon and the flower is made up with mostly Prima flowers. I made this card last weekend, I have not really done much crafting this week as I have been feeling dizzy and light headed and I have now managed to catch the eye infection my Son was suffering from last week so I have not really been in the mood to craft. We are off out today to High Wycombe to a couple of National Trust properties and to enjoy the sun, hopefully we may find a carbootsale on the way there.
I hope you are having a lovely weekend.

A little Hello.

I realised that I forgot to share the last card I made as part of the Easy Craft Project team. The Challenge theme was Spring and for the Challenge we were sponsored by Clip Crop crafts.

I made a little circle card using a Sheep which is a freebie from ClipClop crafts. I cut the card base from white card then topped it with another scalloped circle from Apricot coloured card. I cut a decorative edge with pinking scissors from green paper and layered it on to blue card before running it though my die cutter with a circle die. I then sewed through both pieces before stamping the Elzybells sentiment.
I coloured my sheep with Promarkers and distress inks before mounting him on the card with foam pads.
The little buttons is from My Mind's eye as are the papers and the flowers are from my stash (maybe from Germany...)
I hope you are having a lovely Saturday, I must say it is lovely not having to rush out 1st thing to accompany Jack to his football matches!

A Happy Life!

I have a card to share with you today made with a stamp from the Adventures in Happiness kit available from 'Make the day Special'. I love all the sentiments in this set and they are perfect for putting together quick simple and stylish cards.

To make this card, I stamped the sentiment on some Bobunny paper, coloured it with Promarkers and cut it out with my Nestabilities. I added gems and some glossy accents to give the hearts some dimension. I layered the sentiment on to a scalloped circle cut from the reverse of the Bobunny. I covered the card base with some more coordinating BoBunny paper and inked the edges. To create the button border, I threaded Elzybells buttons on to paper string by East of India and stuck them down with my glue gun. I stuck my topper above the buttons with foam pads
As a finishing touch, I added a Butterfly with string antennaes, topped with a button.
I hope you have a lovely Friday.

My shaped card tutorial on Easy Craft Projects

My last ever 'Easy Craft Projects' tutorial is now on the website. I decided last month to step down from the DT on the website and the Challenge Blog to give me more time to take up some exciting new opportunities.

I had a great time working on the website and the blog and wish Lisa and the rest of the team all the best with the upcoming projects and Challenges. Lisa is so dedicated to Easy Craft Projects and works so hard to make it the success it has become, I have learnt so much creating Projects for the website and am so grateful she chose me to be part of her team
Make sure you check out the website for some fabulous inspirational and easy Projects!

WOYWW - Chaos and Confusion!!

I am sharing a different view of my desk this week, unfortunately, it looks a lot messier from this angle! You can also see the mess under my desk. The desk is actually very messy today, this is the result of a few frantic crafting sessions. There is also a lot of stuff just dumped on there...no time to put it away properly or really just no more room! I have also lost the lid for my big pot of glue!! How annoying!!

A possible candidate for my next DT card for the Pollycraft blog is hiding under the pile of ribbon on my mat. I want this card to be really special as this is my first time choosing the theme and I am not 100% happy with it.
I caught up with my ATC making over the past couple of days as well. The first ones are for the Addicted to Atcs swap I run with Petra. The theme this month is 'House shaped ATCs' I called these ones 'Home is where the heart is'
The second set are for Paul's ATC swappers swap. The theme is 'Tall tales' and I used the Alice in Wonderland digi set from The Greeting Farm. The sentiment was printed using a Free Font from the web and cut out with a Nesties label.
I love these ATCs and had a hard time putting them in an envelope to send off! I hope whoever gets them in the swap loves them as much as me :-)
I hope you enjoyed having a snoop around my desk, if you want to see more and share a photo of yours, please pop over to Julia's blog for more What's on your Workdesk Wednesday fun!

Another 'boys' card....

I have another 'boys' card to share with you this evening. I made this card yesterday for Jack's Football coach as he is leaving in the summer to start a new teaching job and will be based too far away to keep on coaching the boys. It is such a shame as he is a great coach and the boys really look up to him.

I used papers from the 'It's a man's world' stack from Papermania and coloured the Pollycraft image in the colours of Jack's team. The large black letters are by Prima, I love these! The smaller sticker letters are by My little shoebox and the star is American Crafts.
I hope you all had a good weekend.

Matt on his Skateboard and the winner of Jane's Tulips

Phew! It has been a busy weekend! I was planning on posting this a lot earlier but this is the first chance I have had. I am always on the lookout for good images for boys and this one from Di's Digis is adorable.
It reminds me of my little Jack, full of mischief!

To make the card, I used American crafts star paper which I matted on to orange card. I added some orange rafia and cut a frame from blue card for Matt to sit in. The image was coloured with Promarkers and I cut it out and added it with foam pads. The sentiment was stamped into a star die cut from stripey paper and as a finishing touch I added a star charm tied to the to the die cut frame and a couple of turquoise pearls.

I picked a winner using random.or from all the comments on my post yesterday for Jane's new digi image and the winner is... Jenny!!!
Please can you email me to milliesmarvels@gmail.com and I will ask Jane to send you the image.

I hope you all had a lovely weekend.

A new Jane's Doodles image and some sweet digi candy!

Jane is releasing a new image today. These retro tulips are truly beautiful and were lovely to colour in.
I made a simple Thank you card with them after cutting the image out with a Nellie Snellen die.

I coloured the image with Promarkers and then added glossy accents to the petals. I cut a piece of Bobunny backing paper to cover the card base and added an American crafts rub on and stick on pearl. I wrapped the cut card with Organza ribbon before sticking to the card base and topping with the coloured image. As a finishing touch, I added an organza bow with an America crafts button.
Jane is kindly offering all the members of the DT one image to give away so please comment on this post for the chance to win and I will announce the winner tomorrow.
Make sure you check out the rest of the DT's blogs for more inspiration and chances to win.

Whoooooo wants a freebie?

Paula has a lovely Owl freebie for you all today on the Pollycraft blog. Burt is very cute sitting on his little branch and was a perfect match for the sentiment from my My Cute stamps set. I had a play using my Sizzix scalloped card die and my favourite cloud paper!

I cut a card from white card then cut a card front from yellow Bazzill card. I cut an aperture with a Nesties die then added a piece of the cloud paper to the card base. I added the yellpw frame on top with foam pads and the coloured owl which I had cut out was added into the frame with thicker foam pads. The sentiment was stamped on to white card and the sentence chopped into separate words. As a finishing touch, I added pearls and a Prima flower topped with a button.
Make sure you pop over to the Pollycraft blog to pick up your Burt freebie and check out the rest of the DT cards.

Sweet things!

I was so excited when Emily told us she was going to be stocking 'My Cute Stamp' sets at Make the Day special. I couldn't wait to get my hands on some and have a play, Instead of just one card today, I have two cards to share with you made using the adorable 'Sweet Kawai' set.

These sweet little stamps are just crying out to be coloured in with really juicy vibrant colours. I took inspiration for my colour theme from one of my favourite paper ranges, Bobunny double dots.

I coloured the donut to match the pink card and added glossy accents to look like glaze and some beads for sprinkles. The card was made using a Sizzix die and embossed with the Cuttlebug double dots folder.
I cut the image out with Nesties and also cut a larger panel using the coloured card. After stamping the sentiment I wrapped ribbon around the coloured card and assembled my topper using foam tape for all the layers. As a finshing touch I added a bow and a stick on pearl.
The green card was put together in the same way minus the beads. I love how these cards turned out and their simplicity. I am tempted to make a whole set of them now in all the Bobunny colours!
I hope you have a lovely Friday!

A new Willow Sketchie Challenge

I can't believe it is Thursday already and time for another Willow Sketchie Challenge. This week we have a lovely sketch by Rosie and a recipe. Rosie wants to see some embossing, some holes and some leaves on your projects this week.
I embossed some pink card from the Papermill shop and covered my base card with it. The butterfly paper is from the DCWV Blossoms and Butterflies stack. I die cut a scalloped square and punched holes through the scallops to mat my gorgeous Ballet fairy image onto. I finished the card with a gingham ribbon, the sentiment backed with leaves and a couple of gems.
Here is Rosie's lovely sketch. Make sure you pop over to the blog to see the rest of the DTs cards and to join in with the Challenge for the chance of winning some of Sharon's gorgeous images.

Dandelion decoupage seed wallet

Before I start, I must apologise for the quality of the photos on this post, I'm not quite sure what happened but they look a bit washed out and I didn't have time to take any more.
I have a Seed Wallet to share with you today which I made using the Dandelion the Rabbit Die cut decoupage set from the Crafthouse Press.

To make the wallet I cut a 12 x12 sheet of card to measure slightly longer than the seed packets. I scored , the strip so that it folded in 3 neatly and made small pockets to fit the seed packets which I stuck to the inside of the scored folder. If you would like to have the exact dimensions, please get in touch and I will measure the score lines.

I stuck ribbon around the wallet so that it could be tied together in a bow to close it. I then matted and layered yellow card and the gingham paper in the pack.

I added the decoupaged rabbit and sentiment panel to the finished wallet and finished it off with some Prima letters, pearls and a Prima flower.
I hope you have a lovely Tuesday.

A new Pollycraft Challenge and a new release!

I promised you lots more Pollycraft cards and I have two to share with you today. The first one is for this week's Pollycraft Challenge.

For this week's Challenge we are following the lovely Lynsey's fabulous sketch.

I chose to use an image from the new release, Felicity and Friends.

I just love this little Cowgirl image, I need some boots like that!! I printed the image onto textured cardstock and coloured it with Promarkers before cutting it out with my Nesties. The bandana paper was a digital download and I used some more of my favourite gingham. I stitched around all the edges and added an Elzybells sentiment cut out with a Nellie Snellen label die. I added string through the ribbon slots.
To make the flower, I added double sided tape to the back of some webbing and die cut a flower shape with a Sizzix die. I added buttons threaded with string as the flower centres.

Please pop over to the blog for more cards from the DT. We have a fabulous sponsor this week with a fabulous prize.

Gotta Craft are offering 10 new My Mind's Eye So Sophie papers so make sure you join in for a chance of winning!

My second card is made using an image from the other set of images which are being released today.

The Cuthbert and Kiki images are adorable, I just love this little bear! I chose to make a card using Cuthbert holding a lovely juicy strawberry! I had these My Mind's Eye papers and this charm in my stash and they were just a perfect match!

I coloured the image with Promarkers, the ribbon is from my stash and I cut a little Sizzix tag which I stamped with a Hero Arts sentiment to tie on to the ribbon with the charm.
Apologies for the long post but I had lots to share!

I hope you have a lovely Monday!

A Felicity and Friends pre-release day Sneaky Peek!

Those of you who are regular readers of the Tales from Pollycraft blog will know that Paula is releasing a bumper collection of digis tomorrow. I was so excited when we received these images to play with, I still can't decide which one is my favourite and I couldn't resist making a collection of mini cards which each one!
I cut a box with a Sizzix die then altered it down so it was about 2.5cm deep. I had some small envelopes that I had collected from Rymans and they fitted the box perfectly so I cut down some mini cards to 7cmx10cm to fit them.
I decorated each card using scraps from my scraps box. Most of the time was taken up choosing the papers. I then coloured each image to match the colour scheme.

I stamped the sentiments straight on to the backing paper on most of the cards. Most of the sentiments are from Hero Arts.
I had so much fun colouring in all the images to match the papers and couldn't resist adding some of the previously released images to the collection of cards.
As a finishing touch, I added gems and pearls and just a couple of Martha Stewart butterflies.
Don't forget to check back tomorrow for more Pollycraft makes using some of Paula's adorable new images!
Have a lovely Sunday!

Birthday Cake Kaboodle

I have been having another play with Di's adorable Digis and have a Birthday card to share with you today which I made using the Birthday Cake Kaboodle image. I love gingham papers at the moment so I really went to town with them on this card and combined them with a lovely floral paper from the latest Henbury collection by Papermania.

I distressed the edges of the papers with Distress inks to give the card a shabby feel and cut out the image using some nesties I borrowed from my Friend. The flower is made from Woodware, Prima and Hero Arts blooms topped with a pink gem. I coloured the image with Promarkers and then added a touch of glitter glue for the icing. The sentiment is by Hero Arts and was cut out with another Nestabilities label shape.
Have a lovely Saturday, I am off for some Retail Therapy with my Mum at the Outlet Centre in Swindon, I am going to be looking for a couple of dresses and I may just pop in the Papermill shop!

A Friday Freebie cutie!

Friday is Freebie day on the Tales from Pollycraft blog and Paula has an adorable stamp to share this week.
Cuthbert is such a cutie! He is holding a lovely big bouquet of flower and I couldn't resist teaming him with lots of lovely blooms!

The layout of the card is quite simple as the paper is quite busy, it is from American Crafts and I love the colour combination of yellow and purple. The felt flower ribbon is from Quixotic Paperie and the sentiment is Elzybells.
Make sure you pop over to the Tales from Pollycraft blog to get your own Cuthbert and to see what the lovely DT girlies made, Cuthbert is only available today so make sure you don't miss out! Paula will be releasing lots more Cuthbert images next week, you can have a sneaky peek here if you can't wait :-)

Lights the way....

I have another card to share with you today made using stamps from the Adventures in Happiness Unity Stamp set available from Make the day special. I have made 3 different cards now using a selection of stamps from this set and each one is so different. Is is lovely to have so much versatility in one set of stamps.

To make the card, I cut some stripey paper to fit my base card, stamped my sentiment then sewed around the edge of the paper before wrapping it with string and sticking it to my base card.
I cut a rectangle of textured blue card, matted it on to green spotty card and added a strip of patterned pale blue card which I had cut with edging scissors. I sewed along the edge with my machine and then added a piece of green card on the top also cut and sewn. I stamped the lighthouse in place on the image panel and then once more on to cream card. I sewed around the edge of the image panel with a zig-zag stitch then coloured my image and inked with distress inks before cutting out and adding to the scene with foams pads.
I added a button to the right of the image, set an eyelet and then finished off with a couple of gems.
All papers except the textured card are from DCWV.
I really enjoyed making this card and building the little seaside scene, I really want to go for a walk by the sea now!
I hope you have a lovely Friday and a wonderful weekend.

A new Willow Sketchie Challenge

It's Thursday already so time for another Willow Sketchie Challenge. This week we were given another lovely Ballet fairy image to play with and a sketch by Sharon.

The recipe that Sharon wanted us to incorporate into our card layouts this week was:

1. Something pleated

2. Something pink

3. Something floral

All the papers I used, are from the new Henbury lane collection by Papermaia. I added some pink pleated gingham ribbon, a couple of Imaginesce flowers and some Prima gems. The image was coloured with Promarkers and I added glitter to the wings and the edge of the image panel.

Here is Sharon's lovely sketch, lots of lovely layers, a great way to use up all your scraps!
I hope you will be able to join us for this Challenge for the chance to win a digi download from Willow designs.
Have a lovely Thursday!

WOYWW

It's Wednesday already so it's time for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday again. The desk is looking quite productive today with the remnants of last night's Project on them. I made a card for the Make the Day Special blog which did not really generate too much mess as I had quite a fixed idea of what I wanted to do and use.
There are quite a few DT projects scattered around the desk, some have been seen and some haven't yet. I had quite a lot of unplanned Crafting time this weekend as my little Jack was ill with bad throat and developed a nasty rash on Monday, it turned he had tonsilitis and Scarlet fever but he has antibiotics now and is already a lot better.
There are lots of the usual suspects on my desk, Promarkers are never far and my trusty glue gun is to hand too, I seem to use it on nearly everything I make these days. I hope you enjoy having a look around my desk. If you want to see more and share yours too, please drop in on Julia, she will give you a very warm welcome but be warned, this desk sharing is addictive!
