Cook up a Card January Recipe Challenge DT card

It's time for a new Recipe on the Cook up a card Challenge blog!
The recipe for January is:

• 3 brads.
• 2 flowers
• & 1 Big thank you!!

Here is my DT card. I used an image and die cut layer I received in a RAK from Susie from Susie's Sassy designs and coloured her in with Promarkers. I then added some glitter glue and gems.
I used 3 brads on the corners of the image topper with 2 flowers in the top left corner. The flowers were from Ashridge farm Craft shop and I stuck them on with my new Glue Gun :-)


I used Kraft paper from Paperchase to cover my card base ad edged in black ink. The sentiment is from Stampin Up and the spotty paper is by American Crafts.

Cook up a card December Recipe Design team card

Here is my Design Team card for the Cook up a Card December Recipe Challenge.

The Recipe this month is:

• 1 Snowman
• 2 Patterned Papers
• 3 Bows

I used a digital download from Jane's doodles for my snowman and coloured him in to coordinate with some gorgeous My Mind's eye Christmas papers. I used some Sizzix die cut Snowflakes which I topped with bows and some kanban bling. The sentiment is from Elzybells and is so cute. I cut this out with Nesties and topped it with my 3rd bow.

Cook up a card Challenge - November's Recipe

The Recipe for November's Challenge has been set by Susie. This month, we would like you to create a card using:

• 3 flowers
• 2 gems
• 1 butterfly.

Here is my DT card.

I used DCWV papers from the Blossoms and Butterflies stack and cut the Butterfly from one of the backing papers. The gems are from Papermania and the flowers are cut with a Sizzix die. The sentiment is Stampin up.

What's on your Workdesk Wednesday

It is my 3rd week taking part in Julia's WOYWW. My desk is tidy again this week. I made a DT card last night and had to tidy as my desk was just unmanageable and I want to make some bits and pieces today. I don't know about you but I find it much easier to start a new Project when my desk is clear if I don't really know what I am going to make. Other times when I have an idea that has been buzzing around in my head the whole day I will work on top of 3 or 4 days mess, moving on to the floor if I run out of room or just can't push the leftovers far back enough anymore!

So the desk is quite tidy today. I have a new lamp since last Wednesday. The daylight bulb in my desk lamp had blown to I bought a real daylight lamp that was on offer at Hobbycraft. Makes a real difference with the dark nights returning and also makes the photos much easier to take without a flash.
There is a little matchbox on the basket my lamp is on that is for a matchbox swap on the Magical Crafts forum. I am so excited to be taking part in this swap as I had so much fun making and filling mine.
In front of the basket are some of my new ribbons and linen thread I treated myself to yesterday.
Lurking on my scissor pot is my 1st DT card for the Cook up a Card recipe Challenge blog.
My nesties are on the desk as I bought some magnetic tape yesterday, hoping to tidy them up into some kind of folder. As you can see my pegs are still firmly in the basket and have not yet worked their magic on my box of ribbons...
There is a copy of Papercraft inspirations on my desk today, I bought it yesterday from Sainsbury's as it had a free copy of Docrafts magazine with it, I always buy Docrafts magazine so it was quite handy to get a free copy with a lovely Forever Friends stamp on it.
Am off now to Basildon Park for walkies with the Puppy and the kiddies, the sun is hiding at the moment so let's hope it puts in an appearance soon!

A sneaky peek and some crafty stash shopping...

I don't have a full card to show today only a little sneaky peek of my first DT card for the Cook up a Card Recipe Challenge blog which I made today. November's Recipe will be set at the beginning of November so make sure you check it out and join in. There is a little prize for the winner. There is also still time to take part in this month's Challenge. Take a look at the blog for details.


I did a bit of shopping today. I have taken a week's holiday from work. We are not going away but have planned a few relaxing days out. We are hoping to take Charlie to Basildon Park tomorrow for a walk around the woods and the grounds but today we had a quiet morning and then went into Reading to buy my Eldest some clothes and I took the opportunity to go stash shopping.

We had a trip to John Lewis and I treated myself to a yummy box of ribbons, some little gold bells, some magnetic tape (to sort out my Nestabilities), some paper roses, some linen thread and some nice card blanks. I also bought a massive stack of Papermania Christmas coloured papers from WHsmith which will come in very handy for my Christmas cards.
It has been lovely to enjoy some sunshine today, let's hope it stays this way for the rest of the week!

Some very exciting news and the cutest Thank you cards ever!

I had some very exciting news last night, I have been selected to be part of the Design Team for the new Challenge Blog: Cook up a Card. Each month Susie sets a recipe to follow to make a card and there is a little prize for the winner. I will be working with Jennifer, Svit and Susie each month to showcase cards made following the recipe. I can't wait for the next Challenge! I hope you will be able to join in. There is still time to take part in October's Challenge so why not pop over to the blog to check out this month's Recipe.

I had a busy evening yesterday while Hubby was at the Pub with his Friends. I had an order for 20 Thank you cards. I can take no credit for the design as I was asked to make them this way and any card making skills are totally outshone by my Friend's cute Baby whose photo is on the front of the card. Isn't he just the cutest! It didn't take me long to put the cards together once I got into a rhythm things came together quite quickly and I made a nice box tied with organza bow to deliver them in, unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of it!
I hope you are all having a nice weekend. Hubby and I took Charlie to Virginia Water today for the first time. He had a lovely time meeting lots of Doggies and running around in the leaves.
This is us having a little rest. Charlie was exhausted when we came home! I spent some time this afternoon unblocking our drain (oh the joys of home ownership!) and having a little play with my Stampin Up Trendy trees stamps. I finally found a way of getting the trunks stamped in the right place so hopefully I will make a card with them later. My youngest Son is off to PGL for a week tomorrow so we have to finish off his packing tonight.

Cook up a card October recipe Challenge card

I came across a new Challenge blog a few weeks ago. Susie sets a recipe Challenge on Cook up a card each month which you have to follow to make a card.
October's recipe was:

• 2 Rectangles.
• 1 Button.
• 1 Ribbon &
• 4 Pattern papers.

I used 3 different K+Co papers and the spotty paper is Basic Grey - for my 4 patterned papers.
The green ribbon is from my stash an I think I might have bought it in Cornwall.
I cut 2 rectangles with my scalloped rectangle nesties and embossed the kraft one with a Cuttlebug folder to give it some texture.
I then cut 4 Nestie scalloped circles from the patterned papers, distressed them and layered them into a flower held together by a button from my stash threaded with string.
I added a Thank you sentiment with stick on letters.

A recipe for Cupcakes...

I made this card this evening to take part in 2 blog Challenges. The Monday Challenge on the Fiskarettes website is Spots and Stripes (2 of my favourite patterns!) and I am also taking part in the first Challenge for the Cook up A Card - Recipe blog.
The September Recipe is to use:

• 1 Flower
• 2 Ribbons
• 3 pieces of Chipboard

I used some of the stash I bought yesterday at Alexandra Palace for the card.
I cut a piece of orange card with my Fiskars paper trimmer and rounded one edge with corner shaper scissors. I then cut a rectangle of striped card which I matted on to blue to give a slim border.
I cut some circles with the Circle cutter and layered them up. The Cupcake stamp I got from Sugar and Spice crafts was stamped onto striped Paper Crate paper and spotty My Mind's eye paper and was paper pieced.
I added some blue ribbon to the striped rectangle and matted onto the orange card.
The topper was assembled with foam pads and I added a flower to the top of the cupcake.
I used Making memories chipboard letters to spell out 'cup' to the left of the card, I added some folded ribbon tab details to the 'U', set an eyelet with the Eyelet setter and tied ribbon through it.
I finally stamped the greeting and finished off with some stick on gems.
I like the summery feel of this card and it fits in well with the weather we have been having lately, let's hope it lasts!
