Susie's Sassy Challenge no5 - Friends Old and New

Another 2 weeks have flown by so it is now time for another Challenge from Sassy Susie. The theme this fortnight is 'Friends, old and new'. For my DT card I used one of the first Elzybells stamps I ever bought. I have been digging out my old favourites recently and it is a bit like meeting up with an old Friend!

I used DCWV and K+Co papers for this card with lots of paper piecing. I am really into the pink/sepia colour combo at the moment and have used it on quite a few of my cards recently.
I used a Nesties shape to create the card base. This is another favourite trick of mine at the moment too!
I kept the rest of the card quite simple as didn't want to detract from the image and the sentiment. The flower is from K+Co but I did swap around some of the layers to get the combo I wanted.
I hope you can come over to Susie's and join in with this Challenge. The Prize is a GDT spot for challenge #7 that starts on the 28th of January, if you are picked as the winner you will be asked to make a GDT project/card for the challenge after the next which we will need you to email us by the 25th of January.
I hope you have a safe and enjoyable New Year's Eve and see you in 2010!

Sketchy colors sketch challenge - Rock star!

I had to make a card for a Friend's husband so decided to have a play with some of my new stash and take part in the Sketchy colors blog challenge for the first time. I bought the Inkadinkadoo Rock star stamps to make a card for my Son's birthday in February so I thought I would give them a trial run.

I used some blue card from my stash to make a DL card base and then matted and layered green Paper Crate card with some DCWV Rock Star patterned paper. I then made a topped with the guitar stamp and added some stitching detail. I made a sentiment strip by stamping the 'You Rock' on some white textured card, a bit more matting and layering some stitching and some American Crafts star brads and a felt star button finished the card off.
I hope I have followed the sketch ok! Why not pop over to Sketchy colors and take a look at the fab inspiration from the DT. There is still time to take part as this Challenge runs until the 2nd of January.

WO(and under...)YWW - new storage!!

The desk is quite boring today, no work on it to show. I have had another major tidy up though and managed to clear out 2 rather large bags of bits I no longer need so I have made a bit of space. The 2 new units under the desk are to keep things safe from my Puppy as I am hoping I will soon be organised enough to let him sit in my room when I am working without him being able to get to everything and chew it!

I used to have 2 baskets under there and it was just too tempting for him. Looking at the photo, I apologise for the state of the floor! No time to hoover yet! I am hoping to mess up my desk tonight and knowing me it will probably still be messy next Wednesday!
Why not join in the fun and show us piccies of your desk. Take a piccie, upload to your blog and then link it up on Julia's blog.
Am off to get ready for work now, it's still very early but the other half is at work, youngest son is at a sleepover, oldest and dog asleep so all is quiet, I should be able to sneak out without the dreaded 'Muuuuuuuum'! calls delaying me!
Hope to see what's on your desk later!

Elzybells Bear door hanger

I started crafting again yesterday having taken a little break for Christmas. I made my DT projects that are due at the end of the month and then had a little time to have a play with some of my Christmas presents.

I received a lovely little package from my DT buddy at Susie's Sassy designs full of lovely blue goodies including this door hanger. On Christmas Eve I went to see my Friend and her little boy Patric had just moved into his first bedroom so I thought this door hanger would be perfect for him.
I used an Elzybells Teddy Surprise stamp to make the topper and coloured him in with Promarkers.

I used some American Crafts backing paper to cut scalloped rectangles which I added to the back and the front of the hanger. I had inked the edges of the chipboard shape with an orange promarker and then inked the edges of the blue paper with orange ink. I added Patric's name to the back of the hanger with American Crafts stickers. To finish off, I sewed little buttons on to Paperchase felt stars which I then stuck on with my new hot glue gun (such fun to use!) abd added a little ribbon.
I apologise for the quality of the photos but I got a new camera for Christmas and I still need to get used to it!
Am off out for the day now with my Friend for a bit of retail therapy. I never seem to buy anything apart from Craft goodies these days so it will be strange to spend a whole day shopping with no Craft chat!

Pick up a penguin!

A quick share today of some Elzybells penguin cards I made a week ago. I realised I was running out of cards so whipped up 20 of these is just over an hour.

Thanks to my Nesties and my Xyron machine I was able to layer them up really quickly.

I love these cute little penguins and all they needed was a little colour from my Promarkers and some gems and glitter to bring them to life.

I am practically all ready for Christmas to begin. A few loads of washing to get out of the way and a bit of cleaning and Christmas can begin!
Hope you all have a lovely Christmas!

An altered heart Christmas decoration

I made this little Chrismas tree decoration using an Wooden heart which Julia had kindly sent me as she had some leftovers from a Project.

This is to celebrate Patric's 1st Christmas! The ornament does look better in real life than on the photos and it is missing something but am not sure what!

The back of the heart was already painted all silver and glittery so I didn't rally have to do much.
Thanks Julia! I hope you like the 'alterations' I made to your original :-)

Penguin Gift Box from Paul

Paul sent a lovely gift to all the participants from his monthly ATC swappers blog last month.
We received all the components to make this lovely box. All we had to do was make up the box and stamp an image on the white panel.

I decided to use an Elzybells penguin stamp and also used a snowflake stamp to decorate the edges of the image panel and the pink side panels.

I added pink ribbon to the front of the box and as a tab to open the box and then added a flower held together with a brad.
I filled the box with sweeties and gave it to my Friend Madeleine as a little Christmas gift last Friday.
I can't believe it is only 4 days until Christmas. I am still on a crafting break but cannot stay away from blogger!
Have a lovely Monday!

Welcome Isabelle!

This card is for one of my Good Friend's who had a baby just over a week ago. I used some backing paper donated to me by Petra and took my lead from this to create the card.

The stamped image is from Elzybells and is one of my favourites! This is actually one of the 1st Elzybells stamps I bought...the start of an addiction! The flower is by K+Co bought from Die cut dreams but I did swop some of the petals around with another one to fit with the colour scheme.
The little letters are from K+CO and I love using these. I thought the card had a bit of vintage feel to it so I aged the edges of the stamped image with Tim Holtz ink to go with the Kraft card I used in my layering.
A bit of organza ribbon and a few pearls and the card was ready to go!
Hope you are having a good weekend!

Feel Better Soon

This is another card from my Marathon card making session last Wednesday.

A little get well soon card for a Friend who is poorly at the moment. The stamp I used is from Elzybells and the sepia backing paper was bought in France earlier this year. The card is from the Papermill shop and is a much more vibrant pink in real life. The image is coloured with Promarkers and paperpieced. The gorgeous flower is K+CO bought from Sassy Susie's Die Cut dreams shop and I took my inspiration from this to make the whole card.
Hope you are having a nice weekend.

Christmas come early!

Hi there! It's me again! Third post in one day and I am supposed to be having a break from blogging!! I just can't keep away!
The postman came knocking this morning to deliver me a pack of goodies! I had won a prize in a Competition in Simply Cards and Papercraft magazine where you had to make a card using One Four Zero stamps. This is my massive prize! I can't believe I received so many goodies! I got stacks of decoupage sheets, 8 packs of stamps, 1 A4 sheet of single stamps, embossing pens and ink pads! Loads of goodies for me to play with.

I haven't even touched my prizes from Papercellar for winning their category in the Cardmaker of the year competition I have so much new stash and will definitely be sharing some in the form of candy next year.

Here is the card I won the prize with. I love this little House stamp and I always did it out for New Home cards. Red and green is also one of my favourite colour combos and I don't think it should be restricted to Christmas cards. This has loads of polka dots on too which are also my favourites!
Right, I am off now and I promise not to be back again today!

Dad's Jolly Nation Christmas card

I am having a little break now until after Christmas but there are a few cards I have not blogged yet. One of the cards I made was this one for my boys to give to their Dad. I used a Jolly Nation die cut decoupage from the Christmas value pack and some free papers from a magazine.

I used Bazzill card to die cut the Sizzix letters and the frame around the dressed up Dad. I embossed the backing papers behind the decoupage to give it a bit more texture and pierced holes in the scallops of the Papermania card blank.
I inked around the edges of the card as I seem to be addicted to doing this at the moment!
The snowflake brad is from Papermania and the red felt star is from Paperchase.
I hope you are having a good Friday.

Easy Craft projects Challenge no2 DT Project

The second Easy Craft Projects Challenge was launched yesterday but I could not post about it as I was on my Christmas do. I had a lovely time thanks to great company, a few glasses of wine and food. The perfect way to celebrate Christmas with my work friends! I also came home to some more very exciting news but I can't tell you any more about that until the 24th so 'watch this space' as they say!

Now on with the second ECP challenge...

The theme this fortnight is to create something based on one of the following projects from ECP...

Christmas Bag - http://www.easycraftprojects.net/Projec ... as_bag.pdf
Stockings - http://www.easycraftprojects.net/Projec ... ocking.pdf
Calender - http://www.easycraftprojects.net/Projec ... lendar.pdf
Recycled Glass Jars - http://www.easycraftprojects.net/Projec ... ecycle.pdf
Picture Frame - http://www.easycraftprojects.net/Projec ... erfect.pdf

You can create anything you like - a card, scrapbook LO, altered projects, ATC...whatever. You can also interpret the projects to suit you.

This challenge is also being sponsored by The Cutting Cafe. Every entry will be put into the draw with those from challenge one to receive any three sets of your choice from The Cutting Cafe.

I chose to make a project inspired by the Christmas bag. I constructed a box from corrugated red card and a lid from patterned card then fixed a handle to the lid with some glue and my Crop-o-dile.

I inked the edges of the lid and then added patterned paper squares to the box base.
I added die cut snowflakes to decorate the box with gems added to the centres and glitter glue to make the snowflakes sparkle.
To finish the box off I added a tag made from the Cutting Cafe printables which I coloured red and decorated the stars with gems.
Make sure you check the ECP Challenge blog for the other stunning DT projects and make sure you take part to be in a chance of winning some free printables.
Have a lovely weekend!

Dreaming of a white Christmas - Elzybells Challenge 34

This is a special card I made for a very special little boy. My Best Friend's son was born in February so will be enjoying his first Christmas this year. I had this card in my mind for ages so was glad to see that it would fit in with the latest Elzybells challenge which is white, blue and silver.

All the stamps I used are Elzybells but I altered the baby stamp slightly. It normally had stars around the little baby sleeping in the moon but I did not ink these up and instead added tiny Elzybells Snowflakes from the Seasonal sentiments set.
I paper pieced the blanket from some K+Co backing paper and made a frame to match.
The image was stamped on to some white embossed Bazzill card which reminds me of snowballs and this was also used matted on to some DCWV blue textured card for the card base. To finish I stamped the Elzybells sentiment in the bottom right of the card and added some tiny silver gems and some glitter glue to the moon.
I really love how this card turned out but I think Patric may be a bit young to appreciate it. I hope his Mummy and Daddy like it though!
Make sure you pop over to the Elzybells blog to take part in the Challenge. It is the last Challenge for the current Design Team and they are going to be greatly missed having produced such inspirational projects since I have been following the blog.

Susie's Sassy Challenge no 4 - A touch of gold

Susie's Sassy Challenge no 4 launches today. Thank you to all of you who took part in the last Buttons and Bows Challenge. It was lovely looking at all your cards.

The Challenge for this fortnight is 'A touch of gold'. Something a bit different for me as I don't normally use gold. I am more of a silver person but I found this lovely gold Papercellar card and took my lead from this to create my card. Some American Crafts snowflake paper gave me my inspiration for the colour. I love this paper and have used it on quite a few of my cards this year. I have a tiny bit left now and am trying to think of a way to use it!

I used a Kraftin Kimmie stamp and a Stampendous sentiment on a DL card base I had covered in the gold card. The image was cut with Labels 8 Nesties and coloured with promarkers, Sakura pens and stickles. I am really trying hard with my colouring now but still need a lot of practise on my shading techniques. I finished the card off with some bling, a diecut snowflake and gold organza ribbon. I love organza ribbon!

Now for the interesting bit about the Challenge!

The prize this fortnight has been donated by the lovely Dulcie Jackson
The winner will receive the 3 items in the above photo.

There are not too many rules to this challenge as you know by now but you do have to stick to the theme or you will have your entry removed from the linky to be fair to everyone
And please link back to the challenge in your post .
Anyone can enter anywhere in the world all you have to do is make a card or project.
Closing date is Wednesday 30th December at noon GMT

I hope to see you there!

WOYWW? I've got piles....of stash!

This is what my desk looks like today. I had to throw away some of the debris to pile up all the supplies which were strewn over my desk to take stock of what I still have left to do.

There are a few new things on my desk. On the left at the back is a box I have made as a DT project for the next Easy Craft projects Challenge, next to that is a bag full of scrummy glittery wooden hearts courtesy of Julia of WOYWW fame. One has already been altered and if I had thought about it I would have put it somewhere on my desk before taking this photo...duh!
There is a Sizzix box from Paul which I will be filling with sweeties before giving to my Friend Pauline for Christmas as she loves dogs. On the right hanging from my pinboard is an ornament I made for the latest Funky hand Challenge...what else....um......the blue box lid has my written Christmas cards in that have to be hand delivered. I posted all the others today. The box also has various bits of stash and ribbon in which I bunged in there while having a mad tidying frenzy. The pile on the right is lots of bits I had pulled out to use but ended up not using and am yet to put them away.
I am on target for finishing all my outstanding bits and pieces tomorrow night. I have 2 baby cards to make, one baby tag and 2 other cards. I know what I want to do with the cards so it should be quite straightforward...well it would have been but I bet I have put the mockers on it now!
I did say to my Hubby that I would do no crafting and no blogging after tomorrow but in all honesty I think am still going to have to blog as I will have lots of photos to share with you from all these last minute projects.
Right, enough rambling from me...make sure you check out Julia's blog and link up a photo of your desk too for this week's What's on your Workdesk Wednesday.
Hope to see you there!

My First Project on Easy Craft Projects website

My first Project has been published on the Easy Craft Projects website today. I decided to make a Christmassy Candle.

You can find full instructions for making the Candle here but make sure you check out the Easy Craft Projects website for more inspiration and brilliant Crafty ideas.

I have had a busy evening, I made 19 cards tonight! They are all on the dinner table drying as I used my favourite glitter glue again!

Off to tidy my bedroom/craft room now as Hubby wants to go to bed!

See you tomorrow for WOYWW (that's if I manage to find my desk before then!)

Lily of the Valley teddy cards

I had a very industrious evening writing and making a few cards last night. I have just a few more cards to make and am hoping I can get these finished on Wednesday. I then intend to hang up my Crafty boots until after Christmas to concentrate on wrapping and the family and have a bit of a break from Mr Blogger too.

These cards were made with Lili of the Valley Teddy stamps and My Minds Eye Christmassy papers.
I bought some of these from Ebay earlier this year but keep forgetting I have them!

I hope your Christmas preparations are going well. I have my 1st Christmas lunch tomorrow and my second Friday. I am looking forward to things slowing down at work in the next week as all our callers go for their own lunches and dos and gradually go off on their Christmas holidays.
Have a lovely Tuesday and I will be back tomorrow for WOYWW, desk is TOTAL mess at the moment!

Daring Cardmakers - Going dotty!

I needed a card to Thank my very clever and helpful colleague who fixed my Netbook last week.
I decided to use one of Jane's little monsters and combine it with the Daring Cardmakers 'Going Dotty' challenge. It is a Christmas free zone this week too!

I used a dotty Funky Hand paper from the Funky Daze CD which I won last month. I printed the monster twice, once onto the dotty paper and twice onto white card. I then paper pieced the little monster and coloured in his little spikes.
I cut a card blank using a Nesties Labels 8 and covered it with Dotty paper. I cut out the little monster with a Nesties square and added Quickcutz photo corners cut from dotty red Bo Bunny paper. I then mounted the topper onto the card with Foam pads. I added a Paperchase star to which I had sewed a button to the top right hand corner and a sentiment from Making memories stickers finished the card off.
Must go now and sort out School things for tomorrow, we had a lovely day at the Vyne, it was decorated for Christmas and I am starting to feel a bit Christmassy now, I have 2 Christmas dos next week which should also help me along the way to feeling even more festive!

To a special Friend

I made this card yesterday using a photo which I 'altered' by adding a stamped image of a Christmas hat taken from a Daisy and Dandelion stamp.

I used papers from Lidl and some more Die cut snowflakes. I love these snowflakes with gems in the centre and lashings of glitter glue. The sentiment is made up with a variety of stamped words, stickers and die cuts.

Here is a close up of the little doggy in her Christmas hat. She looks so cute! Makes me want to buy one for my Charlie but it would just end up a chewed soggy mess!
Hope you are having a nice Sunday. We are off to the Vyne today to see the rooms decorated for Christmas and have lunch. I love the Vyne, what a treat it would be to wake up in a house like this on Christmas morning!
Have a lovely Sunday.

Jane's new images released today - Rustic snowman

Jane's new images are available from today at Squigglefly. You already met Mia and Bosko last week so today I want to share with you a card I made with the Rustic Snowman and some of my Basic Grey papers.

I really loved colouring in all the little birdhouses on the stamp, they are so detailed and bring a real vintage look to the image. I coloured the image with Promarkers and used some of my distressing ink around the edge of the image and finished off with some stick on gems.

Make sure you check out Jane's blog and play along with the Challenge, there is a lovely prize on offer including 100 of Jane's handmade Fimo buttons. The Challenge is open until the end of the months and the only rule is that you have to use one of Jane's images to take part.

Hope to see you there and remember to check out the rest of the Jane's Doodles designs team members blogs for some gorgeous cards using Jane's digi stamps by following the links on my sidebar.

Hope you are having a good weekend.

Too cold for Pole dancing???

I received an unusual card commission this week...Pauline who organises the Pilates classes at work asked me to make a card for the teacher Anna.

Anna is not your regular Pilates teacher, she is a massive keep fit enthusiast and also teaches Pole dancing.
She is amazingly fit and very in demand for her Pole dancing. She has danced at the Britney Spears first night party in London and also at Glastonbury, she also teaches Pole dancing for those wanting to learn!
I decided to make a card with a 'Pole' on it and what better for this time of year than the North Pole!
I hope she likes the card, I used K+Co and Basic Grey papers and an image I found on the web. The stickers are Papermania and the Snowflakes are Sizzix and a punch.
I can't believe it is Friday already. I have nothing planned for Saturday bar a bit of cleaning, present wrapping and a LOT of crafting! Christmas shopping is all done now so I can relax.
Have a good Friday.

A Thank you card and an image folder

Another make from last week. This is a Thank you card and image folder I sent out to my blogger Friend Claire with some Crafty goodies to thank her for the lovely package she sent me last month. I think it is safe to post on here now.

I used the labels 8 Nesties to cut a card blank which I then decorated with some Papermania paper and a Kraftin Kimmie stamped dog image. The image was coloured with Promarkers. The sentiment is from Hero Arts, the bling is Kanban and the flowers are Prima.

Using the same recipe, I decorated a folder I made to contain some stamped images. I really love this little dog, he is so cute!

Here is the inside of the folder. It is a piece of A4 scored and folded with some triangles of card to hold the images in. I added organza ribbon under the matting and layering to allow the folder to be tied shut.

I did colour in an image last night before crashing out in bed early again so I hope to have a new card to share with you soon.
I hope you are having a good week. Can't believe it is already Thursday!

Magnolia Christmas Card

Just a quick post today to share a card I made for my Hubby a few days ago but had not got around to blogging. I used a Magnolia image I received in an RAK from my blog buddy Claire.

The image is coloured with Promarkers and the papers are Bo-bunny and DCWV. The buttons are from Fabricland.
There will be no WOYWW from me today as my desk looks no different than last week. Apart from a burst of crafting on Sunday, I have not got up to much lately as I am still feeling exhausted and was in bed again last night before 8pm. I hope I will have some energy to have a little Craft session tonight.

Elzybells Challenge 33 - Christmas gift packaging

The Challenge on the Elzybells blog this fortnight is to make a Christmas gift or some Gift packaging. I had a special gift to send out today so I decided to make a box to put the gift in.

I made a very simple box by cutting and scoring some A4 Kraft card to make a box slightly larger than 6x6 square and about 1 inch deep. I scored and folded the lid and stamped the Elzybells Gingerbread man all over the lid of the box and then randomly stamped small Elzybells stars.
I coloured the Gingerbread man with Promarkers and a white Sakura pen and coloured the Stars with a gold Sakura pen. I then assembled the box with glue and inked the edges with red ink.
I cut a small tag with a Sizzix die and stamped it with Stars and mounted a Gingerbread man on to foam pads to the tag.
I then tied the box with bright red organza ribbon.
I hope the recipient will like the gift and the box arrives in one piece!
I hope you are having a good Monday. My week has not started in the best way. Technology is definitely against me! My netbook has died on me and my Blogger comments are playing up. It says I have 4 comments to moderate but when I go to the moderation page there are none there!
Don't you just love Mondays! :-)

American Football card

One of my very good Friends asked me last week to make a card for her. She has a student staying with her for a year who is 22 in December and is a massive American football fan. I took inspiration from 2 cards I had recently made for my Husband as I often get a bit stuck when it comes to Men' s cards.

I used an image I downloaded from the internet for the helmet and coloured it in with Promarkers. The papers I used are Making Memories and the cardstock is Sizzix and DCWV.

The Happy Birthday stamp is from a little Studio G set and I like the fact it is a bit wonky...the football in the top left corner is from a Making memories pack and it is pure chance I have it as it was in a pack I bought for making my Hubby's card!
I hope that she likes it!

Introducing...Mia and Bosko! Jane's Doodles designs DT card

It is new release day today at Squigglefly and the extremely talented Jane has created 2 gorgeous new images for you to play with. A Rustic Snowman and a lovely digi image inspired by her daughter Mia and her Friend's cat will be available from Saturday the 12th.
The image of Mia and Boshko is simply adorable and was a delight to colour in and paper piece like all Jane's images.

I decided to make a small Thank you card. I used my largest Labels 8 Nestabilities shape to make a card blank and I covered the front of the card with some DCWV cardstock. I stamped the Hero Arts sentiment along the bottom of the card. I printed Mia and Bosko onto normal printer paper then cut out some of the patterned paper and fixed it over the area I wanted to paper piece with repositional adhesive. I run the paper through the printer again so that I could cut out Mia's top.
I printed Mia and coloured her with Promarkers finishing with her paper pieced jumper and a heart shaped gem.
I cut the coloured image out with my Nesties and layered it on to some funky pink backing paper. I then finished off the card with Prima flowers held together with an Imaginisce button brad.

I love this little card and am going to find it hard to part with it!

Why not check out what the other Design Team members have been up to?

One last thing before I go...Jane has also launched a Challenge for December for anyone to take part in using one of her dig stamps.
She is offering the Prize below for the winner which includes 100 of her famous Fimo buttons!
You have until the 31st of December to take part.

I hope you are having a good weekend.

How much new stash????

Look at all this lovely stash! I am so lucky! Can't wait to have a play with it all!

I mentioned in my blog candy post that I had been lucky enough to have lots of lovely news to celebrate lately.
One of the lovely things that happened to me was winning 1st Prize in the Paper cellar category of Cardmaker of the year with this Pram card. (Please excuse the mugshot of me, it is not a very good photo but I couldn't crop it out!) I had to use this photo from the website announcing the winners as I forgot to take a photo of the card before sending it off!

Anyway...I came home last night to a MASSIVE box of Papercellar goodies. I was already quite happy as some embellishments I had ordered had arrived from MIC during the day but the box of Papercellar papers, embellishments, stickers completely surpassed my expectations!

There is so much, there is no way I can use it all so I will be sharing some as blog candy during in the New Year so if you love Mr Men and Papercellar keep checking back for a chance to win some great new stash.

I am off to put all of this away now. My stash was so tidy this week but there is not much room left for more so I will have to work wonders to put this away tidily. Wish me luck!
